Wedding Celebrants and Officiants
Information for planning your wedding ceremony with your celebrant by Rob Dose
When planning your
wedding ceremony there are a few details that are good to sort out with the celebrant.
Unfortunately for me not every celebrant cares about the quality of their clients wedding photography. Some even seem intent on derailing it. In the worst cases I have seen, the celebrant has stood between the audience and the bride and groom blocking the entire view. This also applies to signing the marriage certificates. The celebrant should ensure that he/she does not block access to the view and it is desirable that the photographer and video crew be given just a minute once the signing is complete to get a nice portrait of the bride and groom at the signing table.
The best arrangement for most wedding ceremonies is to have the bride and groom facing each other, the celebrant behind them and the bridal party fanning out to the sides.
Guests should be informed that they are welcome and encouraged take photos and video during the ceremony however are not welcome to stand in front of the first row of seating. Most of the photography that I do during the wedding is using long lenses from behind all of the guests so that I am not obstructing any views.
If you have not yet chosen a wedding celebrant then I recommend that you check out my

Wedding Celebrant Josie Arnold gives us a clear view of the bride and groom during the ceremony by stepping aside during key moments. This gives the photographer and video crew the choice to include her in individual shots at our will by choosing different framing methods.
