If you live in Western Australia then there is a good chance you have been to Margaret River. If you have not... Get there quick. If you are not a resident of WA then you are in for a treat.
Margaret River is a small country town that acts as a tourism and cultural hub for Western Australia. Even though it is several hours from the city of Perth, its importance to the cultural aspects of our economy is undeniable. Foods and wines from Margaret River can be enjoyed across the world in fine restaurants.
That being the case it also makes a fabulous place to get married and along with Broome it is the
destination wedding of choice for West Australians.
The majority of venues in Margaret River consist of winery function centers. A few of my favourites are
Brookland Valley Estate, Clairault and Vasse Felix however there are plenty of venues in Margaret River that I have not had the pleasure of visiting yet.
Accommodation in Margaret river is excellent. You can easily get a cheap room for the night but it really pays to spend a little bit more and get something nicer. My favourite spot to stay is Isaacs Ridge which is just outside of the busy town area and puts you in the middle of the bush in lovely family size individual holiday homes. Like with any
destination wedding, accommodation will be an important factor for you to consider as all of your guests will likely be traveling to the region.
Many of the winerys are located along Caves road which runs parallel to west of Margaret Rivers main street. Taking a drive down Caves road makes you feel connected to the region thanks to the winding road and the tall trees lining the edge. Many of the roads connecting to Caves rd hold treasures of their own with a whole range of other venues and destinations. One of Margaret Rivers most famous attractions is the Margaret River Chocolate Factory.
For wedding photography, most of the venues are large enough to hold the entire
bridal photo session there however if you do want to go elsewhere there are many locations to consider including the nearby beaches, the thick forrest and bushland or perhaps a street shoot through the town.
