Beach

It has been a while since I have posted on this part of the site. Facebook has largely replaced this as a way to show off some photos.

Even more photos of Perth

The ever changing Perth city provides more photo opportunities.

Star trails over perth city
Star trails. As the earth rotates on its axis the stars move across the sky. This one hour exposure in the center of Perth City reveals their movement.

These photos were taken from an apartment in Kings Park which you can rent for your wedding day. It is an excellent place for the girls to get ready and it sleeps 7, so everyone can stay over the night before. More details soon.

Perth City at Night

I have been following the progress of the BHP building going up in the city which is going to dramatically reshape our city skyline.

An old one

I just found this image buried on an old hard drive..

The Irony

The strange thing about modern professional photography is that we create super high resolution images only to show them to our clients at pitiful web resolutions.

Take this for example. The photograph was taken at 80 megapixels however is only shown here at 0.3 megapixels.

Perth City

I found myself with a bit of time to spare in Perth city today so took the opportunity to take some shots of the buildings.

WA Wheat Belt

These photos were taken while I was out in the Wheat Belt on the week end.

The camp site I shared with Roger and Christine. The strange shape on the bottom right of the screen is another of my cameras aimed at the moon.

5 or so minute exposure of the night sky. The streaks are the recorded movement of the stars across the night sky as the Earth rotates. Also known as Startrails.

I really just LOVE the night sky out in the country. I am a huge space/science buff.

Early morning. Rainfall over night left beautiful clean pools on top of the large rock face.

Possibly looking south.

Bombed out

I am digging through some old hard drives at the moment and found these very old images from mid 2007. I came across this burning car wreck out in the country and photographed the fireys arrive and put it out.

Accumulated Gestures

This is a shot from a recent performance of the Accumulated Gestures, a Perth based band dealing with a very unique sound of funk. This image was shot during the song "Brother man", my personal favorite. Check them out here

Storm

I love this weather we are having right now. I got drenched trying to get back to the car but at least I had images like these in the bag.

Harvey, Thunder, Cows

Recently I was down in Harvey WA as I often am and I took the chance to get some images with the heavy thunderstorms and the cows roaming the paddocks. Here are a few of what I came back with.

Fire in Baldivis

I just so happened to be passing by when this fire ripped through bush land very close to suburbs.

The Ocean

There is not a better place to waste time then the beach. One little strip of beach can have so much happening, hidden in plain sight from the people who don't care to watch. This bird amused me as he strolled casually around the rolling waves and sometimes just stood there staring into the water in front of him.

Recently I have been getting back into underwater photography and have been preparing some upgrades to my camera gear to take them into the sink. For now I bought a very cool Olympus underwater digital compact camera to play around with.

Unfortunately, I am one of those people who are terrified of stepping on something sharp at the beach, so I always have my trusty reef shoes with me. They have actually been really helpful when around rocky beaches.

Here is a photo of myself underwater! My eyes hurt after this!

My new home on the net.

I'm going to start off by posting some older work that was brought up recently in a discussion on a professional photographers web forum.

The above image was shot just east of shark bay. The colours have not been altered in this image, the sand really is that red. The heat was intense that day and I couldn't bare being out of the car for very long. When heading back to the car I noticed this on the road!

The road slowly melts and bleeds away in the intense heat. At first I thought it must have been from when the road was initially laid down, however when I touched the black tar it was a thick liquid.
